A boudoir shoot is a beautiful way to celebrate your body, your confidence, and your sensuality. Whether you’re doing it for yourself or as a special gift for someone else, preparing properly can make all the difference in ensuring you feel confident, comfortable, and radiant.
Bring a few different outfits (lingerie sets, robes, bodysuits, or even something more casual like a button-down shirt in denim or white) to give variety to your session. This also allows your photographer to play with different looks and settings.
Don’t forget to pack extra accessories like stockings, heels, blazer, cropped jumper or even an item of your partners like his fav jacket / shirt!
Think matching bra & G-string or briefs, suspenders & stockings, keeping all the colours matching. The brand ‘Honey Birdette’ is a good example of this look.
Making sure things match but are just built around a bra and bottoms. Avoid ‘T’ shaped g-strings as they can be unflattering.
This can be incredibly elegant and sexy in the classiest of ways. Think high waisted briefs and soft silk bralettes and slips.
If opting for this look, ensure that the sides are high cut as opposed to low cut due to it being more flattering.
Exploring sets that have a ‘Calvin Klein’ type look to them. Simple and sporty yet still matching.
Bring your large winter coat or denim jacket and jeans! Bring along an oversized dress shirt.
These can make for striking images. Use leather-style harnesses and straps to add some extra sass to your session. Feel free to bring your spicy accessories!
Sexy evening wear. Slinky dresses, fur coats, lace tops, knee high boots, stillettos, fishnet stockings…anything that makes you feel sexy.
On the day of your session, wear loose clothing (like a robe or oversized shirt) before the shoot to avoid any marks or indentations on your skin.
Be sure to fill in the creative profile ahead of your shoot. There are mood boards and questions to get you thinking about what style you are after. You can access your profile from your session confirmation email and it takes around 15 minutes to complete. It also allows you to communicate parts of your body you would like to focus on and highlight and those you feel less confident in.
Our stylists will be in touch 7-10 days out from your shoot but If you would like to chat them sooner please schedule a call with them from the link at the bottom of this page.
Take a peek at our Instagram or gallery on our website for poses that you like but rest assured no previous experience in posing is necessary. Our photographers role is to demonstrate poses and guide you throughout the entire shoot.
Take Care of the Little Details
Bring Inso pics to share with your hair and makeup artist on the day. Soft curls or waves that add texture and volume often create a great look. We recommend you keep it down and not held up tightly, at least to start with.
Avoid trying a completely new hairstyle on the day of your shoot. Stick with a look you know makes you feel fabulous.
Make sure your nails are clean and polished. Whether you go for a neutral tone, classic red, or a French manicure, fresh nails will complement your overall look.
If you’re planning to go barefoot for any shots, make sure your feet are also manicured
Even if you usually prefer a natural look, we recommend a bit more makeup than usual. Boudoir photography is often done in softer lighting, so you’ll want to enhance your features just a bit more than normal (think evening make up). When you're sourcing Inspo pics to show your makeup artist, we recommend defined eyes with eyeliner and mascara to make them pop, but try to avoid heavy false lashes that close the eye off.
Spray tans are not necessary as our lighting does a great job of adding tone to the skin, however they are great for covering obvious tan lines. Avoid self-tanning lotions the day of the shoot to prevent any streaks or uneven colour. Having said this, if you feel more confident wearing a tan, then do it, your confidence will radiate through into the shots.

Glow your way — natural or glam::
Decide on your dream look before you arrive — whether that’s soft and natural, or bold and sultry with smokey eyes and a statement lip. A relaxed, natural style (hair down, fresh makeup) offers great variety, but what matters most is how you feel — like your most confident, beautiful self.
Female boudoir sessions include professional hair and makeup. Bring inspo pics to share your vision with our expert beauty team on the day — they’re incredible at creating stunning, elevated looks that still feel like you.
We don’t currently offer hair and makeup for male shoots. If that's you, we recommend styling yourself as if you're heading out for a special night.
Whether you're professionally glammed or doing your own thing, our state of the art studio lighting will ensure your photographs will be utterly breathtaking.

“Though initially nervous, we had the experience of a lifetime. Our photographer Heather made taking photos of two nervous, unphotogenic people a breeze and an incredibly fun time. Choosing our photos literally had us gasping out loud!”
So many people come to our studios feeling self-conscious, nervous and even super anxious. We’ve seen it all…and we love seeing how surprised and blown away these same guests are when they view their stunning portraits.
